The communications hub

One voice, every channel

Guardian Angels runs the media engine of the Lighthouse ecosystem — podcast, newsletter, blog, social channels, website and app — so that every program, deadline, and veteran story reaches rural Louisiana in "surround sound."

The podcast

Veteran voices, rural airwaves

The ecosystem's signature podcast — envisioned in the master plan as "Operation: Rural Veterans' Renaissance and Reparations" — produces regular episodes by and for veterans: interviews, talk shows, and music, made with partners across the network.

The philosophy comes straight from the Strategic Communications Plan: podcasts hosted by veterans "give veterans a voice" and serve as peer-to-peer support. Bringing veterans to veterans is the best rehabilitation. Every episode highlights success stories, resources, and partners — and every episode ends with a call to action that points listeners to the website or app to enroll, refer, or volunteer.

Episode strands

  • Veteran stories — long-form conversations with rural veterans and families, including voices preserved for the Guardian Light Legacy Story Archive.
  • Rural-resource episodes — benefits navigation, housing pathways, disaster readiness, and entrepreneurship, explained by the people who run the programs.
  • Partner features — co-branded episodes with coalition partners and service providers across Louisiana.

How we measure it

Program-grade podcast metrics

Episodes produced, subscribers, downloads and listens, completion rates, ratings, and social shares — crosswalked to the outcomes that matter: veterans engaged, enrolled, and referred to services.

The newsletter

The drumbeat of the ecosystem

Deadlines for benefits and programs. Openings in bootcamps and housing pathways. M-TOC outreach dates. Volunteer calls. Memorial dedications. Wins worth celebrating. The newsletter is the steady rhythm that keeps veterans, families, providers, and partners in step — delivered to inboxes across the Florida Parishes, Greater Baton Rouge, Greater New Orleans, and Acadiana.

It is also the channel we control completely: no algorithm decides whether a rural veteran hears about a deadline. If you read one thing from us, read this.

The blog

Longer-form education lives on the blog: how to prepare a claim file, what a point-in-time count misses in rural parishes, how a culinary incubator builds a parish economy, and what families should know about survivor benefits. Articles feed the app, the bot, and the podcast — one piece of content, many doors.

Social media

Daily presence on the channels our audiences actually use, run by the communications team and volunteer content corps — coordinated campaigns for events, coalition drives, giving seasons, and memorial dedications, always in the ecosystem's shared voice.

The digital network

Website + app: two platforms, one strategy

The ecosystem's comparative analysis of website versus mobile app didn't pick a winner — it assigned each platform the job it does best.

Public gateway

The website network

Broad reach, SEO-friendly, no installation, instant updates. The website family — the main Lighthouse site and each entity's site, including this one — is the information hub, the SEO anchor, and the front door for intake and donor forms.

Engagement hub

The ecosystem app

Higher cost, deeper loyalty: push notifications for deadlines and alerts, personalization, offline access for low-bandwidth parishes, and gated member content — including in-app podcast streaming for subscription tiers.

Integration synergy

Both, feeding one system

The website drives discovery and app downloads; the app drives engagement and returns traffic; both feed shared CRM and analytics for unified tracking — so no veteran's follow-up falls between platforms.

Measured like everything else we run

Website: unique visitors, time on site, sign-up conversions, referral click-throughs. App: installs, daily and monthly active users, retention, push open rates. All of it crosswalked to veterans engaged, enrolled, and referred.

Built accessible, built rural

WCAG-accessible design, mobile-first layouts, and content strategies that respect rural broadband reality — with virtual channels prioritized where connectivity allows and physical outreach where it doesn't.

Press & media

Working on a story about rural veterans?

We can connect journalists and researchers with program leaders, coalition partners, and — where families consent — veterans and families willing to share their experiences. We can also provide the data case: rural navigation gaps, undercounting in homelessness counts, and what an integrated rural ecosystem looks like on the ground.

Request the media kit for entity fact sheets, leadership bios, logos and brand assets, program summaries, and photography guidance. Memorial-related coverage is subject to the Guardian Light dignity standard: families first, always.

Brand & messaging stewardship

Guardian Angels is the keeper of the ecosystem's shared identity — the taglines ("Turning Gratitude into Generational Impact"; "Building bridges. Restoring hope. Transforming rural communities."), the visual system, and the editorial voice. Partners and sibling entities route co-branded materials through this hub so the network always speaks as one family.
